Especially in recent years, Centaurus has been working more and more often outside Poland – in many countries of the European Union, but also far beyond its borders. Over time it became clear to us that this work could not be limited to individual trips or one-off actions. That is why we created the “Animals Without Borders” project, which grew out of a very simple belief. An animal has no passport, no nationality and does not belong to any particular country. Suffering looks the same, regardless of which side of a border it happens on. And there are places where animals suffer even more, because there are no organisations, people, money, veterinary care or even the simple chance that anyone will notice them at all.
That is exactly why we want to reach the places where help is scarcest.
Behind this reach stand our coordinators. They are the ones who seek out local activists, build trust, keep the network together despite national borders and time-zone differences, and decide which report cannot wait. They turn a distant crisis into a real rescue on the ground. They devote many hours to messages, phone calls and difficult decisions so that help does not end at the edge of the map. It is quiet, demanding, daily work, and it is what makes every point on our map possible.
We want to keep developing new activities, building cooperation with local communities and organisations, and supporting treatment, rescues, adoptions and the creation of places where animals can truly be given a second chance. Every new point on the map means something more to us than just another country. It means another animal that someone reached in time. Another dog taken off the street. A horse saved from death. A cat who finally received treatment. An animal who, for the first time in its life, found itself in a safe home.
You can see it in the animals themselves.
A dog who had already lost hope now lifts his head at the sound of a friendly voice. A horse who once stood broken and exhausted now grazes peacefully in a pasture of his own. A cat who never knew a gentle hand is learning that she can trust again. These are not small victories. For that one animal, it means the whole world has changed.
Over the years, looking at all the forms of our help, we have changed the lives of thousands – in fact tens of thousands – of animals outside Poland. Some were rescued directly. Others received treatment, food, care or a new home. Still others were simply given a chance that nobody had ever given them before.
That is what “Animals Without Borders” is about. We do not limit our help to the borders of our own country. We are marking new points on the world map and reaching further and further, to places where sometimes the presence of just one additional organisation is enough to completely change the course of someone’s life.
None of this would be possible without you. Every point on this map, every animal we reached in time, is thanks to your support and to the people who made it possible.
Because animals know no borders. Neither should our help. Time and again we have seen how much can change when good people do not look away. That is why we will keep going, reach further and mark new points on the map. As long as even one animal is waiting somewhere for someone to reach them, we will be there. And we will never stop. ❤️
