Some of the most wonderful moments happen far from the hustle and bustle. In the silence of the forest, surrounded by animals, with your phone switched off and a whole day ahead of you. That is exactly where we have spent the last few weeks.
The Modlimowo Forest Camp 2026 has come to a happy end, and our hearts are still full of it.
From the first day of the first session, 28 June, participants stayed with us in Modlimowo, on 140 hectares of unspoilt nature in the Karnice municipality, not far from the coast at Rewal. It is a place for people who, instead of noisy resorts, choose the quiet of the forest, contact with animals and a few days of genuine escape from digital noise.
Because the Modlimowo Forest Camp is restoration that saves lives. Not only for the people who came here to slow down and breathe again, but also for the animals whose future everyone here helped to build.
Across four sessions running from the end of June into July, participants had a place at the campsite, sanitary facilities with hot water, four plant-based meals a day, activities among the animals, workshops for children, a rope park, evening campfires, film evenings, and personal development sessions and groups for adults. At the heart of the programme were raw vegan cuisine, a digital detox, the closeness of the forest and real help for animals.
And it was this help that was the quiet driving force behind the whole venture.
Taking part in the volunteer programme meant daily commitment to the animals and the centre: walking dogs, cleaning around the animals, small repairs and building work, preparing meals and all the other tasks that help Modlimowo grow. Nothing here was just for show. Every pair of hands left this place a little better than they found it.
You could see it in the animals too. Dogs who were given walks, company and peace. A place that was slowly becoming safer and more lasting, step by step, thanks to one small task after another. This is what it looks like when kindness stops being merely an idea and becomes something tangible.
It was a magical place for families, children and adults alike. For children aged 4 to 13 there were workshops, physical activities, arts and crafts, encounters with the animal world and forest adventures. Adults could take part in a programme that encouraged calm, including work with the body, voice, movement and mindfulness. Different needs, one shared feeling: that here, rest and helping are one and the same.
The sessions that accompanied us throughout the summer:
🌲 Session I: 28 June – 5 July 2026
🌲 Session II: 5 July – 12 July 2026
🌲 Session III: 12 July – 19 July 2026
🌲 Session IV: 19 July – 26 July 2026
Every contribution made along the way helps us build the future of Modlimowo and a new, safe home for the animals in our care. It is this part that stays in our memory long after the campfires have gone out.
To everyone who came here, who walked the dogs, who picked up a tool, who cooked, who sat by the fire and who simply chose this peaceful place over the bustle: thank you. You did not only rest here. You helped to save lives.
And this is only the beginning. Modlimowo is still growing, just like the safe home we are building for our animals. We will come back here, we will keep building and we will never stop. Because a place like this, created by people with heart, is proof of how much good we can still do for animals and for our planet.
See you again in the forest. ❤️🌲
