Bunia is 17 years old. She stands by the hay, calm and quiet. Her ribs, back, and hips are clearly visible under her skin. Her body shows how much strength her current fight costs her and how much needs to be done for her to start rebuilding.

Chronic laminitis does not end with the hooves. In Bunia’s body, inflammation is constantly ongoing, gradually destroying her entire organism. It has already led to anemia, weakness, and immense emaciation. Changes and rotation of the coffin bone have occurred in her hooves. This means treatment, medication for anemia, appropriate supplementation, detailed care, and regular work by an orthopedic farrier. Everything must be tailored to her and managed very carefully, because one procedure or one visit will not be enough here.

This is what saving animals like Bunia looks like. It doesn’t end with one decision or one bill. It continues every day, with the next dose of medication, the next hoof correction, monitoring of results, and a properly prepared meal. Bunia needs a complete process of body rebuilding, and we want to give her everything that can bring relief and stop further deterioration.

Today, Bunia stands before you as she is. Thin, weakened, but still present. She has a long treatment and months of care ahead of her. She needs medication, supplements, regular check-ups, appropriate nutrition, and specialized hoof correction. She also needs time, which this time no one will take away from her.
