❗️TYSON. Life kept testing him. Today he needs people who won’t let him down.
Tyson didn’t need an accident to be on the brink. He wasn’t hit by a car, wasn’t injured during shelling, and wasn’t found on a frozen street. For a long time, he was sick next to a human, and his condition worsened without proper treatment. When he came under the care of our friendly activists in Ukraine, his eyes were almost invisible. They were hidden under massive swelling and an excess of heavy skin folds. His entire body was red, inflamed, covered in scabs, scratches, and open wounds. Tyson trembled with pain and stress. He breathed with difficulty, constantly wheezing, as if even taking a breath required another fight from him.
His caretaker herself struggled with serious mental health issues and was unable to provide him with proper care or timely treatment. We don’t want to build this story on judging a person. The consequences of all this were clearly enough etched on Tyson’s body anyway. It was he who, for days, lived with itching that didn’t allow him to rest, with wounds opening under his claws, and with skin that, instead of protecting, became a source of constant pain.
Soon after Tyson was taken in, severe, bloody diarrhea also appeared. The expelled stool consisted almost entirely of blood. The parvovirus test was negative, but his body was already extremely weakened. Treatment had to begin immediately. Fluid therapy, supportive medications, gastrointestinal protectants, painkillers, treatment for extensive skin lesions, and anti-inflammatory therapy. In addition, a hypoallergenic diet and therapeutic baths, which for a healthy dog would be routine grooming, became another part of Tyson’s fight for a body without open wounds.

However, it wasn’t enough to just administer medication and wait. When doctors tried to reduce the dose of anti-inflammatory drugs, the severe itching immediately returned. Tyson scratched himself so hard that he tore his own skin again. He also started losing weight. It was necessary to change the treatment again, modify the diet, observe the body’s reactions, and look for a solution that would not only bring short-term relief but also allow his condition to be kept under control.
Some of Tyson’s problems also stem from his breed’s anatomy. Excess skin covered his eyes and restricted his vision, and heavy tissues concentrated around his muzzle further hindered breathing. Thus, chronic problems inherent in his own body structure joined the effects of great neglect. They cannot be washed away with one bath or ended with one injection. Tyson needs regular check-ups, observation, appropriately selected medications, a specialized diet, and care that responds to every change.

In Ukraine, our friendly activists daily encounter animals after accidents, shellings, and abandonments. But suffering doesn’t always start on the street and doesn’t always come suddenly. Sometimes it builds up quietly for a long time, right next to a human. It is precisely in such cases that one must also react. Take the animal, start treatment, and stay with it even when the first intervention is over, and further stages of therapy are still ahead.
The costs of Tyson’s treatment so far already amount to about 800 dollars. And it must be said clearly: this is not the entire goal of this fundraiser. This is a bill that arose already during the rescue of his health. It includes fluid therapy, diagnostics, painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, gastrointestinal treatment, therapeutic baths, a specialized diet, subsequent consultations, and every change in therapy forced by the recurrence of symptoms. And yet, Tyson’s treatment does not end at the moment the first bill is issued.

Help is needed right now. It is necessary to finance further skin treatment, monitor the body’s reactions, maintain an appropriate diet, and continue therapy for as long as his condition requires it. We cannot allow the activists who reacted and started the rescue to be left alone with further costs. Nor can we stop halfway just because the most expensive decisions had to be made immediately, before the fundraiser could even begin.
Today we ask for your real support for Tyson. Not for a distant future and not for treatment that might start someday. We ask for help in a fight that is already ongoing and generates further costs every day. For medications, tests, baths, specialized nutrition, and care, without which his body could once again find itself at the same point.
Tyson lived too long with itching that forced him to tear his own skin, and with pain that no one could stop. Now we must bring his treatment to an end. If you can, join this action. Help us stay with Tyson for as long as he needs it.
