❗️SHANI. A year ago, she lost her guardian. Shani never stopped waiting for her
Dogs perfectly understand absence. They understand the silence that suddenly appears in the house. They understand the absence of their human. However, they cannot understand why someone who always came back, one day stops coming back forever.
Shani is seven years old. She lived in Odesa. She had her guardian, her home, and her place on earth. Every day looked similar. Shared mornings. A familiar yard. A door behind which safety always awaited.

Until one day, everything ended.
Her guardian passed away.
The house ceased to be a home, but for Shani, nothing changed. Every day she returned to the same courtyard. She stayed where she was last with her human. As if she still believed she would hear familiar footsteps, that the door would open again, and everything would return to its place.

The residents of the estate were not indifferent. They brought her food. They shared what they had. They allowed her to sleep in a small storage room that protected her from rain and cold. Thanks to them, she survived.
But no one knew what was happening under her fur all those months.
Shani is a Chow Chow. Dogs of this breed require regular grooming. Without it, the dense fur stops protecting and over time turns into a heavy, matted armor that digs deeper and deeper into the skin every day.

When our partners reached Shani, it initially seemed that she was simply very neglected. However, it was enough to get closer to understand that the situation was dramatic. A putrid smell emanated from her body. Every touch caused pain. Every movement caused her suffering.
The doctors had no choice. All procedures had to be performed under full anesthesia. Only when the matted layers of fur began to be removed did the true picture of what Shani had lived with for almost a year emerge. Deep wounds. Extensive bedsores. Severe skin inflammation. Parasites covering the entire body. Live fly larvae in the wounds. Ears completely filled with pus and discharge. Eyes severely inflamed.

Ahead of Shani are further examinations, wound treatment, fighting infections, daily dressing changes, ear and eye treatment, skin and coat regeneration, and long rehabilitation. It will be a very difficult road. Each subsequent day means further treatment, further procedures, and further costs that we ourselves cannot cover.
That is why today we turn to you with all our hearts.
We beg you, please help Shani.

For almost a year, she waited in a place she still called home. Today, we cannot leave her alone. We cannot allow there to be a lack of funds for the treatment of a dog that lived in unimaginable pain for such a long time.
If you can, support Shani with even the smallest donation. If you cannot help financially, share her story. Every form of help matters and can give Shani the chance she has been waiting for for so long.
Join the campaign for Shani. Together, we can ensure that after a year full of loneliness and suffering, hope finally appears in her life.
