He has no name.

Maybe he once had one. Maybe someone called him differently, maybe he belonged to someone somewhere. Or maybe from the beginning he was just another horse whose value could be written as a number.

Today the dealer doesn’t tell his story.
He gives a price.

He, of course, doesn’t know about it.

He stands next to a human, allows himself to be touched, watches. He doesn’t know what five days are. He doesn’t know how much two thousand złotys is. He doesn’t understand that somewhere on the other side of the screen, it’s being decided whether he will have thousands more mornings ahead of him, or if only a few are left.

And maybe that’s the hardest part of it all.

That he expects nothing from us.

He cannot ask.
He won’t promise gratitude.
He won’t know who donated five złotys, who ten, and who shared his story further.

If we buy him out, he will simply walk out onto the grass one day.

He will eat. He will warm his back in the sun. He will live his ordinary, horse life, completely unaware.

And perhaps he doesn’t need to know.

It’s enough that we know.

We managed to pay a deposit for Malucha’s life, and we have until October 19 to collect the remaining 1200 zł for his life.
