Great fundraiser for setki kotów!

There are places where a cat’s life can be worth exactly as much as a single vet visit costs. Seriously, there are such places. Not because no one cares. Sometimes there’s simply no money, no clinic, no transport, or no person who can take responsibility – for the bill.

And then time decides about life.

A cat hit by a car on the road. A kitten found in a dumpster. An animal with an infection so advanced that it stopped eating. Different latitudes.

A broken paw. An open wound. Dehydration. Parasites. Fever. A body that is starting to give up, though the heart is still working. You are still somewhere else with your finger on the map.

This is how many stories that reach us begin. And these stories know no borders, nationalities, or cultural differences.

Not all of them end well.

But many can end differently if help comes quickly enough.

Centaurus has been helping animals in Poland and beyond its borders for over 20 years. We created the world’s largest horse sanctuary, but we never considered the suffering of one species to be more important than the suffering of another. I guess we all read a lot of Orwell, and it stuck with us somehow.

That’s why we also have dogs and cats, farm animals and wild animals with us. And that’s why Animals Without Borders was created. Our flagship initiative, which arose from the needs of the times we live in. From words like, if an animal is from Ukraine or Romania or – worse for it – from the Philippines or Uganda – why help? We couldn’t just stand there and listen, because after 20 years we have activists all over the world, and one of them calls every now and then asking for help.

We help, among others, in Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Egypt, Morocco, and the Philippines. Different countries. Different realities. The same problem.

An animal needs help immediately.

And ‘immediately’ costs.

Blood test. X-ray. Ultrasound. IV drip. Antibiotic. Surgery. Hospitalization. Transport. Specialized nutrition. Another test. Another night in the clinic.

Behind each of these words stands a bill.

And behind the bill stands an animal that doesn’t know what money is.
It only knows that it hurts.

The phone can ring at noon. It can also ring at 2 AM.

Someone found a cat after an accident. Someone brought a tiny creature that is barely breathing. A volunteer stands in front of the clinic with an animal in their arms. The doctor can start acting. Only someone has to pay for it.

In such moments, there’s no time to prepare a campaign. There’s no time for several days of fundraising. You can’t tell an injured animal to hold on until Monday.

Rescue cannot begin with checking the account balance. That’s why we are creating a fund that should be ready beforehand. Before an accident happens. Before someone calls. Before the clinic doors open, from which one would have to turn back with a verdict.

We want to be able to tell the doctor one word – to ‘act’. And not to wait with the cat on the table – because we don’t know if there will be money.

We have seen animals so emaciated that it was hard to believe the body was still fighting. We have seen severe infections, extensive wounds, and the effects of accidents. We have seen cats that for the first few days basically just lay under an IV drip.

Then comes a moment that cannot be mistaken for anything else.

The cat lifts its head. Starts eating. Takes a few steps. Shows interest in a human for the first time. Falls asleep without pain for the first time. And sometimes a few weeks later we get a photo.

A couch. A blanket. A human. A cat stretched out as if it had always belonged right there. An ordinary photo. A cat’s life. Because we made it in time.

Except that sometimes an ordinary life is the greatest victory.

This is one of the hardest truths in helping animals.

Medicine has its limits. The body has its limits. Sometimes help comes too late. But money should not be a limit before a doctor even gets a chance to fight.

We don’t want to make treatment decisions based on how much is left in the account. We want to make them based on whether there is a chance.

And it is for this chance that we ask you today.

We don’t know what the next cat will be called. We receive hundreds of reports monthly, and sometimes we have to refuse – because there are 24 hours for a decision, and sometimes only 15 minutes. And unfortunately, it’s so often about money. Or rather, the lack of it.

We also don’t know where the next one will be found. Maybe by the road. Maybe under a car. Maybe in a yard. Maybe someone will leave it in front of someone’s gate.

We also don’t know if it will need an antibiotic for several dozen zlotys, or surgery and hospitalization for several thousand.

We do know, however, that when it appears, time will start running immediately.

That’s why we are collecting now. Not for statistics. Not for numbers.

For the possibility of saying ‘yes’ when another animal has only one chance left.

If you can, donate. Help.
Thanks to you, we have already saved thousands of cats. And we know that more are waiting. And often they only have you, here on the other side of the screen.

If you can, share.

A few zlotys will not pay for surgery. But a few zlotys multiplied by thousands of people already can.

And perhaps one night, somewhere hundreds or thousands of kilometers from you, a doctor will open the clinic doors and take into their arms a cat you will never know.

He won’t know who you are.
You will probably never know its name.

But something very specific will happen between you. Thanks to you, it will get a chance to live.

Help us be ready before the next phone call.
