❗️BAJKA. She is 6 weeks old. And she already knows what the world looks like from the roadside❗️

When they found her, she was dragging her hind legs along the road. Tiny, white, still practically a puppy. Good people stopped, carefully picked her up and put her into an ordinary cardboard box to keep her safe. And that’s the box she was sitting in when the rescuer arrived for her. Look at her photo. At that pink nose, huge ears, and eyes that look straight into the camera. Bajka is about six weeks old. That’s all she’s had from life so far. The roadside, paralyzed legs, pain, and a cardboard box that for a moment became the safest place she knew. And as I show her to you today, I really wish you would stay with her for a moment, together with us.

At the clinic, what we all feared was very quickly confirmed. Her spine is damaged, and Bajka is paralyzed. Her hind legs are wounded from dragging them on the ground. Her belly is very distended, she has severe diarrhea, parasites, fleas, and ticks. The delicate skin on her belly and in her intimate areas is red, swollen, and damaged in places, because Bajka does not fully control her body and has been dragging it along the ground for a long time. There are already hairless spots from constant scratching. And you know what keeps coming back to me as I write this to you? She is six weeks old. She should just be getting to know the world. Meanwhile, she is getting to know doctors, dressings, medications, and everything a puppy should never have to know yet.

I don’t want to promise you today that in a month Bajka will stand up and run. I don’t know that. No one can honestly tell us that today. First, we need to do tests, X-rays, stabilize her body, stop the diarrhea, get rid of parasites, heal her wounds, and see what can really be done with her spine. Then will come rehabilitation and a long learning process of living with what remains after the injury. But I can tell you something much more important. The fact that Bajka may never walk like other dogs does not mean she cannot have a good life. She can have her own place, a human she recognizes by their footsteps, a full bowl, warmth, and peace. She can play, tease, be pampered, and have many years ahead of her, even if they look different. Her world can be bigger than that cardboard box in the photo. But first, we need to help her get there.

And this is where we need you. I’m not asking you for a miracle. I’m asking for help with treatment, diagnostics, dressings, blood tests, X-rays, medications, good food, hygiene products, and everything a paralyzed puppy needs to be clean, dry, safe, and not suffer. Your 10 or 20 zł can truly become something very concrete for Bajka. Another test. A medication. A dressing. One day of care. She won’t tell you herself that it hurts. She won’t ask you to change her dressing, won’t call a doctor, and won’t choose her own future. But you can do at least one of these things for her today.

Someone already stopped by the road once. Someone picked Bajka up from the ground. Someone found a cardboard box and made a call. Now her story has reached us. And you. And I beg you, stay with her for a little longer on this journey, because she is only six weeks old and I really don’t want the safest memory from the beginning of her life to be a cardboard box placed by the roadside.

Bajka may never run to you on four paws. But thanks to you, she can get a life where she won’t have to drag them on the ground anymore. And that’s the kind of life I’m asking you for her today. ❤️
