Tobi

❗️Tobi and the merciless street

Tobi sits on a metal table, and his hind legs splay out to the sides. He tries to gather them under himself, support his small body, and stand up. He finally succeeds. He takes a few steps, but there is no puppy-like freedom in them. Every movement is uncertain, his body sways, and his paws look as if they cannot properly support him.

The vet takes each of them in their hands. They bend the joints, straighten the limbs, check their mobility and Tobiego’s reaction. This tiny dog stands calmly and allows himself to be examined. He doesn’t understand that right now, it’s being decided whether he will ever be able to walk, run, and grow up without pain.

Tobi is extremely weakened and dehydrated. His body no longer has the reserve of strength needed to fight. He has a wound near his ear, moves with great difficulty, and requires urgent limb diagnostics. First, he needs to be hydrated and stabilized. Then, blood tests need to be performed, joints and bones assessed, the cause of his mobility problems determined, and treatment begun. All while his body is still growing rapidly.

Tobi has no time to wait. If the problem concerns bones, joints, muscles, or the nervous system, subsequent weeks can perpetuate an incorrect way of moving. The weakness will not disappear on its own either. Fluids, proper nutrition, wound treatment, doctor’s check-ups, and observation of how the body reacts to therapy are needed.

He was born on an Egyptian street and spent the beginning of his life there. With his mother, among cars, dust, and places where every day you have to find water, food, and a scrap of space to rest. The street doesn’t stop for a puppy that starts walking poorly. It doesn’t perform tests or administer IV fluids. It allows him to weaken until he can no longer keep up.

Tobi is no different from a dog born in Poland. He equally needs a mother, care, food, and treatment. He should equally be playing now, tumbling with momentum, and learning his own body. His place of birth, however, meant that instead of the first safe months, he got a fight for survival.

Today he is in the clinic. Today a doctor is examining him. Today we can begin a real fight for his health. But without funds, this help will end with the last paid day. Tobi will leave the clinic and return to his mother on the street, still weakened, without completed diagnostics, and without a person to oversee further treatment.

We cannot release him back in such a state. We must pay for diagnostics, treatment, hydration, proper nutrition, stay in the clinic, and subsequent care. We also need time to find a solution so that Tobi does not return to a place where his worsening gait will again remain unanswered.

For over twenty years, as the Centaurus Foundation, we have been helping animals where, without human support, treatment simply stops. Today, we must direct all this help to one small dog. To Tobiego, who is just starting life, and already cannot freely walk a few steps.

We ask for your support now. Every 10, 20, or 50 PLN can turn into an IV drip, an examination, limb X-rays, wound treatment, a nutritious meal, or another day under a doctor’s care. Tobi doesn’t need one person to pay for everything. He needs many people who will not allow his treatment to end with a return to the street.

He hasn’t learned to run yet. Let’s give him a chance to be able to one day❤️
