Dry SKARPETY. Warm feet. Small dreams of great people.

In Przemykowskie Bagna, winter doesn’t ask if you’re ready for it. Here, moisture gets everywhere, mud sucks in boots, and the cold can penetrate to the bone. It is here, among hundreds of rescued horses, that 40 of our stablehands live and work all year round. They don’t return to warm apartments in the evening, they don’t dry clothes on radiators in cozy bathrooms. They live on-site, in containers, because the animals need them every day, regardless of the weather. They are immensely happy with the jackets, gloves, and clothes we collect for them. But recently, a need so ordinary emerged that it tugs at the heartstrings. SKARPETY. Ordinary, dry, warm SKARPETY. In our swamps, they can get soaked several times a day. And then they have to go out to the horses again. Into the cold. Into the water. Into the mud.

We dream of proper, tall, thick winter SKARPETY for them. Ones that really warm and provide at least a little comfort during many hours of work in moisture. One good pair costs about 70 zł. And we have 40 guys, and we’d like each of them to get at least a few pairs. If any of you can buy and send such SKARPETY, we would be immensely grateful! Sizes 43–46. But there’s another dream, postponed for years. A washer-dryer. For about 1600–1800 zł, we could buy a device that would finally give their clothes a chance to be truly dry. To this day, I remember one of the guys who fell into the mud, got soaked, and later had to put on laundry that was already starting to rot from the moisture. Because nothing simply dries there. Przemykowskie Bagna are not called swamps for no reason. Laundry can hang for days, and moisture still wins.

We have been at this reserve for almost 10 years. Every year we promise ourselves that we will finally take care of such things. And every year something more urgent appears. Another horse to rescue, another bill, another need that cannot be postponed. And our guys simply do their job. They get up in the morning, go out into the mud, feed, clean, and care for hundreds of lives. Regardless of frost, rain, or snow. That’s why today we ask you for something not for the horses, but for the people who give these horses a home. Help us buy warm SKARPETY and a washer-dryer. For many of us, these are the most ordinary things in the world. For them, after so many years of living and working in the swamps, it’s a real luxury. Let’s give them something this winter that we often don’t even notice ourselves. Dry clothes. Warm feet. And the feeling that someone finally cared about them too.
