Love doesn’t pay for surgery. It doesn’t stop the pain. It doesn’t reverse the changes that take away health every day.

And yet, sometimes you love an animal so much that you would give anything just to be able to say: it will be alright. Nina is 6 years old. She should have her whole life ahead of her. Instead, she faces a race against time. She needs urgent surgery, removal of a bone chip, and then treatment and rehabilitation. Each passing day can mean further development of degenerative changes. Her owner wants to fight. She wants to save. She wants to do everything. But sometimes between “I want” and “I can” stands an amount that one person cannot bear.

And this is where the story ends for many horses. When they stop being healthy, they start costing. When they start costing – they become a problem. Some disappear from their current homes. Others go on their last journey. A few are lucky enough to find a foundation or a person who sees in them not a bill, but a life worth saving. Nina has something else. She has a person who didn’t turn away from her. Who instead of saying “I can’t afford it,” said: “help me save her.” And it is for such people that it is worth fighting side by side.
