Mak walks across the yard together with our carer. A little pony with a tousled mane, in a pink halter. He looks good. It is only at his eyes that a story begins which no photo can tell us. Both are white. Mak is blind, although he still reacts to some stimuli and to a limited extent can make out patches of light. For us the yard is full of details. For him many of them no longer exist.

Mak was rescued a long time ago. He has his home here, his carers and a place in our everyday life. Years have passed since that rescue, since the decision to take him. During that time there have been thousands of meals, mucking out, grooming and ordinary days. Today our boys lead him across the yard, brush his coat, stay close. This story goes on. It’s just that its hero is getting older and needs us in a slightly different way.

Today we are raising 2400 zł for Mak. For treatment, diagnostics and food.

With animals like him, rescuing takes on another meaning. It is easy to remember the day a horse leaves the dealer. It is harder to see all the mornings that follow, when you have to come back to him. Even after many years. Even when there is no big action at the ramp, just an older pony whose health needs looking after. Mak looks good and we want to keep taking care of him. To provide the tests, treatment and proper food he needs.

Because those good years also have to be provided for him. Every day anew.
