❗️PAKO. Extensive wounds on his muzzle and body. Today we begin the fight for them to turn into scars❗️
First you see the wound. Large, open, just below the eye, extending across the cheek. Then others, on his shoulder, side, back. In places they look like severe burns, in others like deep damage to skin and tissues. Only after a moment do you start to see Pako himself. A black, shaggy dog with big ears, gentle and calm, who stands amidst all this and still looks at people. And this is where we want to start. Because Pako is not a wound. He is not another drastic photo from Ukraine. He is a dog whose body now needs to be put back together piece by piece.
Pako was taken from a person during a police intervention. And we could actually end the story of his earlier life there. We don’t want to build an entire story around him. Just looking at Pako’s body is enough to know that for a very long time he didn’t get what he needed. Now everything must go the other way. The wounds need to be cleaned, protected, and managed until they heal. We need to manage the pain, monitor for infections, control damaged tissues, change dressings, administer medication, and observe each subsequent stage of skin regeneration. With such injuries, one visit and a bandage are not enough. These will be days, weeks, and bills that appear much faster than new skin.

And this is where we need you. Look at Pako again, but try to jump a few weeks ahead for a moment. Imagine the same muzzle without the open wound under his eye. A side where new skin begins to appear instead of red tissue. A back that is slowly growing fur. A dog who is no longer going by car for another wound cleaning, but simply going for a walk. This is the image we are fighting for today. Not to feel sorry for him for a moment. But so that in some time, these photos will only be the beginning of a story, not its end.

Because despite all this, Pako is gentle. He allows himself to be led. He lets people be near him. And it’s hard not to think how many times that same closeness might have meant something completely different for him before. Now a hand is meant to give medicine. It’s meant to adjust a dressing. It’s meant to stroke him. The car is meant to go to the vet, not to another bad place. The person, from whom the dog should have had every reason to shut down, is today to become the one through whom his body will finally stop hurting. You too can be such a person for Pako, even if you never touch him.
Taking him away was the first step. Now all the next steps need to be taken. To guide Pako through treatment, dressings, diagnostics, medication, and the entire healing process. Not to leave him halfway just because the worst photos have been taken and the intervention is over. For Pako, what’s most important is just beginning now. The slow recovery of his own body. Day by day. Centimeter by centimeter.

Today you see wounds. We want to show you scars in some time. And then fur. And then simply Pako, who no longer feels any pain. Help us guide him through this entire journey. ❤️
