Roki hasn’t had time to get to know life yet, and he already has to fight for every step❗️

Egypt didn’t give Roki even a few peaceful weeks. Before he could stand properly on his own paws, his tiny body began to fail him. Today he moves with enormous difficulty, and every step that would be completely natural for a healthy puppy has become an effort and a struggle for him. Our activists found him exactly where we pass dogs left without help every day. In a country where the streets are full of sick, injured and unwanted animals, the fate of such a small puppy could very easily have gone unnoticed. Roki could have become one of thousands of dogs that disappear before anyone has time to ask what happened to them. But we saw him. And from that moment on, we are the ones fighting his fight.

Roki was taken to the vet. The first X-ray was taken, and the vet confirmed that his walking problems are serious. Today we can’t yet say what his future will look like. We know that when he grows a bit, he will probably need surgery. We also know that ahead of him are more visits, more X-rays, more detailed diagnostics, consultations and treatment that will allow us to assess whether he will ever walk on his own and how much can be done to save the function of his hind legs. For now we don’t want to make beautiful promises. We want to tell the truth. And the truth is that today, the few-weeks-old Roki faces a whole list of things he has to go through just to get a chance at any kind of normal life.

Today he is in the care of our local activist, who will take him to the clinic, have further tests done and document every stage of treatment. We will be with them at every visit. We will receive results, recordings and information from the vets. We will know how his condition changes and what he needs. But care alone won’t pay for more X-rays. It won’t buy medicines or the right food, nor will it prepare him for future surgery. In Egypt, even the most dedicated person very often comes up against a simple and brutal limit. They want to save, but have nothing to pay with. And that is when an animal’s life begins to depend on whether, on the other side of the world, there are people willing to help.

Look at him. He’s still almost a baby, and already he has to learn not what a safe life looks like, but how not to give in to pain. Every day he tries to lift his body. Every day he tries to take the next step. He doesn’t know the vets are talking about surgery. He doesn’t know the cost of tests and doesn’t understand why his legs won’t take him where he’d like to run. He only knows that there is a person beside him, so he tries again. And today there is more determination in this tiny body than in many much stronger beings.

Roki is a brave boy. We believe he will go through this road like a real Rocky. That he will fight for every centimetre, every movement and every day, until one day we see him not as a helpless puppy found on an Egyptian street, but as a dog that has won its life. But even the greatest fighter won’t win without people on his side. Today Roki needs our help to have more tests, go back to the vet, receive treatment, and in the future also surgery and rehabilitation.

Today Roki enters the fight for a better life. Please stand by him. Help us fund the diagnostics, visits, medicines, proper food and everything he will need in the coming weeks and months. We don’t yet know where this road will lead him. But we do know that we will do everything to make sure it doesn’t end where his short life began – on the street, in pain and without any chance. We want it to lead him onwards. Step by step. Until the day when Roki truly wins his life.
