2000 zł for Ernest❗️
I know.
Here he is! White. Barely alive. Forgive him. And me. Cats don’t understand calendars, they don’t know when what is allowed in the human world.
Ernest. Eight years old. And a body that has almost stopped fighting.
I want to tell you about him, but what I really want is for you to see for a moment what the person who stopped saw.
A road. The noise of cars. A space where no one should stay for long, and certainly not for days. Maybe nights. Maybe both.
And him.

He is standing, but it’s not standing with strength. It’s the kind of standing that could end at any moment. A body emaciated to the limit, fur dirty and matted, eyes full of pus. Ears full of dirt, skin burdened by what nobody stopped for a long time. Ticks. Dehydration. Exhaustion.
This is not one bad day.
This is something that went on for a long time.
A soldier notices him. A person who could have driven on, but didn’t. He stops and asks us for help. And from that moment Ernest’s story starts to change.

He ends up at a shelter we work with in Ukraine, near Lviv.
And only then can you really see what state he is in.
His body is extremely wasted. His teeth are in a bad state, every touch is discomfort. Eyes that went untreated for a long time. A body that, instead of living, was simply trying to survive.
But there is something else.
He is looking.
In this photo you see a cat that is standing, but doesn’t really know yet whether he can relax. His body is here, but everything else is still trying to catch up.
And now this is where we are.
We are stabilising him. Slowly. Carefully. We are giving fluids, treatment, food that his body has to learn to accept again. Every day is a small step that has to be watched over.
There is still a lot of work ahead of him. And uncertainty about tomorrow.

And here I have to say something plainly.
The volunteers from Ukraine have contacted us again. People who rescue animals there every day, often in conditions where there is nothing – no facilities, no funds, no time to wait.
They don’t have the money for Ernest’s treatment.
They did everything they could. They reacted, secured him, and got him to a point where something can still be done.
But they can’t go any further. The first bills have to be paid and we need to prepare for the next ones.
And this is the moment when it either happens – or it doesn’t.
There is nothing in between.

Either we help and Ernest gets the treatment he needs to come out of this state.
Or it all stops right here.
That’s why today we are here with him.

With his body, which needs to be rebuilt.
With his life, which hasn’t regained its balance yet.
If you can do one thing today – stop for him and help.
Because he has already done everything to survive.
Now everything depends on whether someone decides to be by his side.
