❗️BIMBO. He fell from the fifth floor. We won’t give him back to the place where he almost lost his life.❗️
Bimbo was found on the street. Battered, in pain and still alive, though after a fall from the fifth floor it is hard to understand how his tiny body survived it. He ended up at the shelter run by our friend, the activist Alba. Only later did we find out that he had been adopted just on Sunday, but not through our shelter. In his home, they refused to secure the windows and balcony with netting. A few days later, the five-month-old cat was lying injured on the street.
Bimbo didn’t understand what the fifth floor was. He couldn’t judge the height or foresee that one step could end with hitting the ground. It was the human who was supposed to know for him. It was the human who was supposed to protect him. The fall left its marks on his tiny body. Bimbo has a broken elbow and a displaced jaw. He needs surgery, further diagnostics, treatment for his injuries, painkillers and care that will let him get safely through the coming weeks.
When the owner turned up at the shelter, he learned that we had taken over Bimbo’s care and were starting his treatment. He was also told about the necessary surgery and the costs involved. He didn’t want to take responsibility for them. He did, however, want the cat back.
There could only be one answer here: no.
Bimbo will not go back to a place where basic safety measures were refused, and later responsibility for the consequences. He stays in our care. He is only five months old and today he should be playing, growing and discovering the world from a safe windowsill. Instead, he is learning to cope with a broken elbow and a painful jaw.

Today we are not asking you for a miracle. Bimbo has already done the impossible and survived. Now we are asking for help with what can still be done for him. Heal his broken elbow, take care of his jaw, get the pain under control and make sure that his next home is truly a home. Safe, and not just in words.
Help us get Bimbo back on all four paws. 🖤
