Lola
Our story
March 21, 2025

Listen, today there is a big event for Lola. Big because Lola is small and needs big things. On top of that, Lola is completely blind in one eye. And supposedly she lost it through her own fault.

I don’t know if you know what is meant by “through her own fault”. Namely, through her own fault – when the host was forcing her, buying her at some market – she impaled herself on some pole and lost her eye. Well, she shouldn’t have struggled like that, then she wouldn’t be guilty of losing her eyesight.

Whose fault is it though – although according to the dealer it is always the horse’s fault – Lola simply cannot see at all in one eye, and her vision is very poor in the other.

She stands here all terrified and shaking today. She sometimes sticks her nostrils in my lens, but I don’t think it’s because she’s not afraid of me, but because she simply doesn’t see me and goes a bit blindly.

As long as she could see in one eye, she worked at some local festivals by the lake, where she had to live. But that ended when she started losing sight in her other eye – and with that she passed sentence on herself.

Today Lola is at the horse dealer’s and was supposed to leave in the morning. We arrived a little before her collection and begged the dealer for a few hours. A few hours turned into Monday evening. That’s not much at all, because we have to collect $388

That’s a lot of money though. On Monday no one will talk to us and they will force the blind Lola onto a car and take her to a place where she won’t see much anyway. Maybe fortunately, because animals are smart and can see death a few steps ahead of them perfectly well. Then one blow – and Lola will be gone.

But we have space. And we still have a handful of time to take care of her and so that she can live the last years of her pony life with us, at the Animal Farm, with dignity. But it won’t happen without you. Simply put – today Lola is needed more than ever.
