Our story
January 20, 2026
Emil encountered a story that has already struck more than a dozen of our horses. We’re always in shock for a few days after such events – but let me tell you how foolish we were, before I ask you to forgive us for our stupidity. Mr. Stefan called to ask for photos of a winter horse, preferably in the snow, waiting to die at a dealer’s. This isn’t a photo contest, and we don’t make them to order, but we kept our emotions toned down – after all, it was an opportunity, and we happened to have Emil drowning in the snow that had buried his barn and surrounding fields.

Mr. Stefan was thrilled. He said he’d dreamed of having a horse like this. And that he wanted to show his friends a horse he’d rescued during a Polish winter. Hence the snow. So they wouldn’t have any doubts that Mr. Stefan was working under “difficult conditions,” as he put it.

The decision was made – we won’t be shipping you Snow Emil, because Mr. Stefan will buy it, pay for the shipping, and then take Emil to a hotel near his home. Fairytale, right?

Emil has been through a lot. Too much. Man bred him for one purpose, and along the way, squeezed every ounce of life out of him. Today, Emil stands in the barn, begging for his life again-in fact, his life flew by in a plea no one heard anyway. And today, he stands in the snow, amidst frozen fields and forests, in his vast barn, sharing the fate of others who didn’t make it. His eyes hold a cocktail of sadness, panic, and the last shred of hope-though you wouldn’t sense much of the latter.

Yes, but what about Egypt?

Please stand here with me today. Because everything went wrong. Mr. Stefan, after promising, planning everything, and practically adopting Emil, changed his mind two days ago. He called us and told us about Egypt-he told us to understand that he wanted to go save camels and horses from the pyramids, because he’d read a petition on our website about Egypt and the tragedy of its animals. He also added that it was cold in Poland right now, and when he saw the snow under Emil’s hooves, he felt he needed to bask in the Egyptian sun.

He immediately added, so we wouldn’t begrudge him for making any commitments – because by flying there, to the pyramids, he’d be saving hundreds of horses and camels, while here, with the ticket price, he’d only save one miserable horse. And finally, he asked if we’d like to contribute to his ticket price – as part of our appeal to fight cruelty in Egypt. He also added that a good man often needs palm trees, sun, and sand to regain his strength. In short, he won’t waste his money on Emil. And amen.

And you know what? We have nothing against palm trees. Or relaxing. And certainly nothing against the sun. It’s just that we send a certain amount of messages -we have a lot of media that helps us -and if someone commits to Emil, we foolishly take it seriously. And in Emil’s place, we take another horse.

So – in the end – we couldn’t let go of that horse standing in the snow, cracking with frost. And today we gave up everything else – so that Emil could end up here, with you.

Because YOU – it’s like the whole world.
