Bambi
Bambi❗️Carrots. And a blueberry bun. See you on Monday evening❗️
An amazing set, isn’t it? Today is the day for Carrot and Bambi, or rather Bambi and Carrot. Well, obviously Bambi is the first one here. Bambi was supposed to be the company mascot in a large corporation. The boss is a gadget lover – as one of the girls working there says – the whole wall is full of diplomas, and the shelves are full of gadgets from all over the world. All of it is worth more than the whole building.

The boss supports many orphanages and various organizations – one at a time, until he gets his diploma. Since it is fashionable to help animals now, as he himself said, it was time to organize a collection for a pet in the company. Not because the company cannot afford to buy one, because Mrs. Marta says that the boss brings towels and coffee for the office from the United States, because he has his favorite company there, so buying a pony would be financially invisible to him. But it was about good PR, about an initiative that all his friends would hear about.
And they heard. There was a meeting at the company, everyone chipped in, and because one of the employees knew a trader in his village, it fell on Bambi. So the employee went, bought Bambi out, and boom – she hit a wall with the boss. But the boss’s wife, who doesn’t like animals, didn’t agree to pay $155 for a hotel for Bambi and told him to return the pony to the trader. We don’t know the whole deal and we don’t know how they settled, but we know that Bambi is hanging on the wall in that company, and only we and the employee who is afraid of losing his job and is as silent as the grave know about the return of the pony.
So we went and photographed Bambi. She is beautiful, lame, but beautiful. She looks into our lens with her big, bright eyes and doesn’t understand what just happened. It’s terrifying and amazing to us how willing people are to use the image of animals to improve their own. But then they get rid of them like an old wardrobe. Bambi will probably hang on that wall for a few more years until it gets dusty.
She’ll be hanging there among the gadgets from all over the world when she’s long gone. She’s lame, so there’s no chance anyone’s going to buy her, even though no one diagnosed her. The employees, who really don’t make much, chipped in again. They raised $141, and today we have to raise another $310 to put down a deposit on Bambi. Every little bit counts.
And the second thing, which is from a completely different area, but is equally important. Now, as I write to you, a man is standing at the gate with several tons of carrots and with tears in his eyes he asks to buy them from him for half price. Because he needs money for his animals and lives 3 villages away. The carrots are very good and half price, but we need $386 to pay him today so that our horses have additional luxury.
Although we feel embarrassed to buy such good goods for half the price, at the same time – with our number of horses – we are looking at saving every złoty. And although we often buy them carrots ourselves, it all depends on our current funds, and at the moment it is really a luxury. If you can help us pick up these carrots from the gate today, we will be very grateful, because you will make our horses a great day.
And if you can help pay Bambi back, I swear I will go to that company myself and take that picture off the wall, because that man never had the right to put it there. Help us give Bambi the life he deserves – and our horses a basket of the best carrots in this part of the world.
PS And why a bun? Because that old man with the carrot gave us 4 buns with blueberries, which his wife baked, out of gratitude for us buying the carrots. I can freeze those buns for you and serve them during the open house.
I know. It’s just a joke about freezing. But it’s touching, in a world where everyone does dry business, that someone even thought about it..
