Bunia

Bunia is an old dog. You can also see from the photo that she’s not ours. We didn’t even get many photos, as we were the ones asked for help, but these are people we often work with and help each other.

A woman found Bunia on the street. After the collision, she was still walking. And somehow, no one had bothered to look after her before. However, the impact was so severe that it caused enormous damage to Bunia’s life. Bunia, with a massive hematoma, was dying on the streets of Ukraine, where no one pays much attention to these dogs these days, as people are often numb to the war and their own problems.

Only a handful remain, those who constantly feel their hearts pounding, and their conscience won’t let them turn away. The only thing missing in all of this is money. That’s why we’re often asked for help. And whenever we have the opportunity to inform you about such a situation, we do. Sometimes we have to refuse, because the number of animals is so overwhelming that we simply can’t cope.

But Bunia is an old dog, and no one wants to adopt her or pay for her treatment. And she has a chance to live another year or two, maybe even three. But for now, she needs clinic fees, full diagnostic tests, checkups, good food, and supplements. It’s a fortune, but a fortune the shelter she ended up in can’t afford. And unfortunately, when these dogs don’t have a chance and there are no funds, they end up over the Rainbow Bridge anyway.

So today I wanted to ask you, putting everything else aside, for help for this old dog. She touched us deeply. I chose the best of the best photos for you. Although I know they’re not very good, no one there has a good phone or knows how to frame everything. And with tears in their eyes, they said that was all they had. And then they begged for help again.

Thanks to you, over 2,000 dogs and cats from Ukraine have already been saved. And in recent months, dozens more. You funded surgeries, tests, food, and transports to new homes. You are great at what you do.

We’d also like to find a home for Bunia, but the current waiting list for paperwork is about four months. We won’t be able to start arranging all this until we’ve secured funding for the veterinary clinic and Bunia survives.
